Today is Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in Canada.

Manitoba Moon Voices Inc. (MMVI) sends its love and support to MMIWG families struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one.

Unfortunately, Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse individuals continue to be the subjects of violence at an alarming rate.

On Red Dress Day, MMVI calls on everyone to help end the violence.

You can help make our communities safer for women, girls, and gender diverse individuals by doing one of the following:

  1. Call your MP and demand action.
  2. Call out racism and misogyny when you see it.
  3. Read a book on MMIWG.
  4. Spend time with an Elder connecting with your culture.
  5. Donate to an Indigenous Organization.
  6. Support Indigenous Business.
  7. Spend time with you mother, grandmother, aunty, daughter, and/or niece and tell them you love them.

By raising our voices together, we honour the missing and murdered and help to make the changes needed for our communities to be safe for everyone.
